We were recently in the offices of an oil distributer and counted eleven staff huddled over eight 3kw mineral oil filled electric radiators in an uninsulated single glazed building. Their capital cost on installing a small domestic scale condensing oil boiler and radiators with a controller would be recouped within 18 months. The job could be installed with minimal disruption and the benefits in staff productivity are significant – not to mention compliance with employment law in relation to maintaining minimum temperatures for office staff.
This is just one example – where in this country many businesses will face into the recession with their energy costs out of control; perhaps not realising how significant the savings can be on a small amount of capital expenditure.
