Insulation
We all know how to keep ourselves warm, it is something that was drilled into us at a very young age – remember jumpers.
But keeping our homes warm has traditionally just involved closing the front door and turning on the oil boiler – in an age of cheap energy that has always been sufficient. But now the age of cheap energy is coming to an end both because of depletion of the resource and consequences of its consumption. Scientists and governments around the world now recognise that the much heralded period of peak oil has arrived, and that runaway consumption must be curbed.
In Ireland home heating is the biggest consumer of fossil fuels, with transport and electricity next. In recognition of this and with a view to achieving the largest reduction in individual energy consumption, and proportionate reductions in per capita carbon emissions the SEAI have put in place an incentive scheme to encourage home and building owners to radically reduce their energy requirements.
So when you look at the means to achieve the biggest reduction in energy usage, carbon emissions and household cost reductions it turns out to be very simple – insulation – insulation – insulation.
When it comes to insulation we in Ireland have been very slow in our development and utilisation of thermally efficient technologies, partially because of our warm climate, partially because energy was cheap and also because we have been badly served by our construction industry – a profit maximising and specification minimising organisation.
Ensen have the knowledge, technology and experience to provide homeowners, companies and organisations with the insulation solutions they require from External to Internal to Attic insulation we can and do deliver excellent installations, to specification and in most cases the work qualifies for SEAI grant assistance.
