Leitrim is one of four authentic counties in Ireland, and is a fantastically interesting place, with its unique rural character and wonderful lakes and rivers.  Others might say that it rains a lot in Leitrim, but the reality is that there is not that much climatological difference evident when you look at the data from any of the western seaboard counties.

That said much of Leitrim is actually a long way inland and wintertime temperatures can get quote low at times, with some really extreme low temperatures recorded as recently as the winter of 09/10.
