Sustainability

Current CO2 level in the atmosphereSustainability is the ability to maintain. It can be defined in biological terms as the ability of an ecosystem to maintain ecological processes, functions, biodiversity and productivity over time.

The challenge of the next twenty years is to explain and embed the concept in our culture because there exists a widespread belief that humans are somehow intrinsically capable of living sustainably.  The reality is that archaeological, historical and current data proves that we are not so capable.  The level of atmospheric CO2 being a comprehensive example of proof that we are not.

Global Warming

ENSEN has always believed that there would have to be a shift towards sustainable living and in Ireland we are providing products and services to facilitate this change.  The first order of business is energy efficiency because that will give the largest improvement in the shortest time.  What is fascinating about implementing energy efficiency is the economics – our services offer paybacks ranging from 6 months to 7 years – so why bother with the ecological argument?
